ROAD TRIPS & TIME SLIPS
After years of disappointing her family of historical interpreters obsessed with the legacy of their famous ancestor, Mary Shelley, Jo Fairchild has built a promising career producing video games. When a failed pitch jeopardizes her job, she’s left to drown her sorrows and fears of imminent firing in a fake olde English pub tucked into a Vegas casino where she crashes into the roguish cos-player with a traumatic brain injury claiming to be Will Cavendish, the third son of a Regency Duke, accidentally brought forward in time from 1819 by a persnickety device powered by lightning.
Will is adamant that he needs to return to his own time to save his childhood sweetheart from a forced marriage to his best friend’s older brother and, in a true moment of weakness, Jo agrees to help him get back. The only way, however, is a visit to her parents house where her sixth grade science fair project—a working facsimile of Dr. Frankenstein’s lab sits in the attic. As Jo drags Will on a road trip from Las Vegas to Ithaca, NY, he gets a crash course in outlet mall shopping, flaming hot Cheetos, personal massagers, rhinestone-studded heart-shaped sunglasses, and the perils of falling in love with a headstrong, modern woman—all of the necessities and joys of the 21st Century.
But when an accident in the lab sends them both back to the 1800s, they will need to relearn a few hardfought truths about themselves and each other to return to their right place in history—and whether their love is one that can survive the chasm of lost time.
